Improve Website Ranking In 3 Easy Steps
by facebook on Mar.10, 2010, under SEO
High website rank is important for every business owner, especially Internet Business. The higher your website ranks on the search engine results, the more traffic it gets. And we all know that more traffic means more money. So how do you actually improve website ranking? There’s a bunch of information out there on this topic, but in this article I will list 3 main things you need to get in place, to rank any website high on the search engine results.
First, there are 2 main factors that influence your website ranking. They are: on page optimization, and off page optimization.
For on page optimization, you need to make sure that:
- Your title has your main keyword, twice if possible;
- Your H1, H2 and H3 tags include your main keyword;
- Keyword density on the page is about 2%;
- Main keyword is included in the first and in the last paragraphs.
For off- page optimization, you need:
- Backlinks from other websites pointing to your page, with keywords as anchor text;
- These backlinks should be from high PR sites;
- They should be “do follow” backlinks, so search engines count them;
- Backlinks should be from various sources: social bookmarking websites, blogs, web 2.0 sites, forums, and anything you can think of. The more sources you can get backlinks from, the better.
So, on-page SEO optimization is step one in the process. Then follows the off-page optimization.
And the third step, and the most important one, is keeping on doing step #2. Yes, that’s most important. You cannot just throw a huge number of backlinks per day and move on to your next project. You need to keep on building those links, so in the eyes of the search engines, the process looks natural. Backlink building process is a never ending cycle, but it’s the one that gives you results.
Now, building backlinks takes time, and a lot of it. For example, if you have just a couple of pages you want to rank well, you will spend full time backlinking them, for a few months, until they get on top. While if you had this done for you, you could build more pages to rank well, and at the end, you would make even more money!
Getting backlinks is essential, however, it does not have to cost millions to get you to the goal. Even if you are just starting out, you can easily outsource your backlink building for as low as $79 per month, for 8 pages to rank high. Which could be making you $8000 in a few months, once they rank high in search engines.
But if you build backlinks yourself, you have no time to build new pages! So you end up having just 2 or 3, which make you $2000-$3000 in a few months, and all you do is build backlinks full time. So which option do you think is more profitable?

SEO Made Simple
by facebook on Mar.10, 2010, under SEO
There are numerous ‘experts’ who claim to be able to get you front page rankings over night – all for a not so small fee. Let’s get one thing straight – no one can guarantee top rankings.
In the olden days, SEO copywriters concentrated on keyword density.
This usually resulted in copy that was stuffed to the rafters with keywords making it totally unreadable to the human eye. Yes, it may have gotten rankings but the sites didn’t convert.
Keyword density is (thankfully) a thing of the past. Today natural, relevant, interesting copy will score brownie points with Google. Oh, and the up side – your copy, if engaging, will convert.
No apple sauce with my roast pork thanks
Sadly, websites that have keywords shoved into every crevice imaginable are still out there. The keywords are slapped on like apple sauce smothering the underlying sales message (assuming there was one in the first place).
As I mentioned earlier, stuffing may seem the answer to all your ranking problems, but it achieves zip at the end of the day.
Your content will look horrible, it will be impossible to read and, to be frank, will be a complete and utter turn off to anyone who visits your site.
Keywords are still important but must be used carefully. It isn’t the number of them that you need to worry about, it’s all to do with where they are positioned within your website.
SEO nowadays is all about relevancy and popularity. You need to become an authority within your field and the best way to do that is through your writing and web copy.
Link, link, link
So we’ve looked at keywords – the other main aspect to SEO is linking. If you want to get top rankings you have to get people to link to you.
One way links from other sites are like nectar to Google. I’m sure there is a correlation somewhere between that and the popularity of social media marketing. Of course before you can get links you have to be noticed and that’s where bookmarking sites such as Digg, Delicious, StumbleUpon come in.
One of the best vehicles to get yourself noticed as an expert in your field is blogging. Get articles out there on your specialty and you’ll soon get picked up. Grow your readership by plugging your posts through Twitter, enhance your links by using Squidoo or HubPages.
There are so many ways you can generate links and the more that come into your site from other websites (relevant to your field), the more authoritative you will be in those all important Google eyes.
As your relevancy and authority grows, so will your rankings.
So, in summary concentrate on…
Relevant copy
Keywords in your headings, subheadings, page tags
Fully utilise social media marketing
Blog
SEO isn’t a mythical beast only the chosen few can slay. Don’t be afraid, if you need help any good SEO copywriter will be able to point you in the right direction. Good luck and may the SEO force be with you.

The Basics Of SEO – Search Engine Optimization
by facebook on Mar.10, 2010, under SEO
SEO is FREE and can have a huge impact on the performance of your website. No surprises then when the UK Search Engine Marketing Benchmark Report 2009 found that 55% of organisations are increasing their search engine optimisation budgets, the most likely increase in comparison to paid search and social media marketing.
SEO is basically making sure that your website ranks higher up in search engines such as Google. The higher your page rank = the more likely you are to get seen. So why is this important? I can honestly say I have met companies that have great products/ services that are genuinely needed by their target markets so why weren’t their phones ringing off the hook?
Simple – they have the product, the marketing, the potential – but the customer cannot see it! You can create a great website but if you cannot be found in a search engine and are not on the first 3 pages then chances are that you will not get a visitor to your website.
See for yourself – Are you a hairdresser in Birmingham? – go to Google and type in Hairdresser in Birmingham. If your on the first page of Google great, Number 1 position – fantastic, if your on page 55 – forget about it.
SEM is different to SEO. SEM is also known as Search Engine Marketing – these are the sponsored results in Google stretching from the top down to the right hand side of the page. These results are Google adverts which are paid for by advertisers on a Pay Per Click basis.
The organic search is the body of the Google search i.e all the results which have not been paid for. It is these search results which create the market for website optimisation.
It has been said that paid search gets around 30% of the clicks in comparison to organic search which gets 70%. Organic search results are credible as Google shows these results in order of relevancy. In order to do this Google has to analyse your website using Googlebots (small internet spiders that crawl over your web pages and collect information).
So what does Google look for?
There are two things, firstly, on page content.
Keywords are..wait for it -> KEY! It is important to choose keywords that are commonly searched for and relevant to your product/service AND are not being used by your competitors that much. So remember, high volume, high relevancy and low competition.
Do keyword research – do you know what customers type in to Google when they are looking for your service?
You can conduct in-house research so for example when somebody puts ‘internet’ into the ‘where did you hear about us section’ ask them to recall what they typed in. You can also use the Google AdWords Keyword Tool which is a free service that shows you all the related terms to your search term and also shows you the search volume (the number of people that have used this term)
Secondly Google looks for off page content. Google will rank your website from 1-10 to determine how important your website is. You can improve your page rank through two things:
Inbound links – web pages that link to your website i.e. direct traffic to your content. You can do this by asking a partnering organisation to post a link on their website which directs people to yours. This is a credible form of referral.
Link Anchor Text – this is text that links people back to your website so for example – if you are looking for a professional and affordable web design – look no further!
Links are very important – they are online recommendations and are great at creating online word of mouth. Both Keywords and Links are the building blocks of SEO. Once you know how to do it you can make a start and aim to be Number 1 in Google. SEO is great for putting you in front of your customers – and at a time when they need you most! The great thing is – IT’S FREE!
